Antioxydant activity and insecticidal effects of Citrullus colocynthis hydro-ehanolic extract against mosquito species

Abstract

This study investigates the biological properties of the hydroethanolic extract of Citrullus colocynthis, focusing on its antioxidant, antidiabetic, and insecticidal activities against mosquito species. The yield of the hydro-ethanolic extract of the fruit of Citrullus colocynthis was 19.21%. Antioxidant assays showed moderate free radical scavenging ability. The antidiabetic activity was confirmed through inhibition of α-glucosidase enzyme. Additionally, the extract exhibited significant insecticidal potential, highlighting its possible use in pharmaceutical and entomological fields.
